Almost single thing we ordered was extraordinary. And it actually satisfied my most picky of eaters. We loved the hummus, baba ganoush, and falafel, but the grilled eggplant appetizer was my favorite (picture included.) The naan is fresh and perfectly cooked. I can't wait to return and try more vegetarian options.

Great food, excellent service, and cool vibe. Sultan sets the standard in STL for authentic Mediterranean food. Go now and go often!

Kurdish food, with an Iraqi swing. A little more Persian or even South Asian than the typical "middle eastern" fare. Fish was extraordinary. Hummus very good. The baklava was amazing. Very reasonably priced and the service was lovely.

Sultan remains a staple in my restaurant rotation of casual eats that's good for any occasion. Located in the Grove where restaurants are plenty, Sultan stands out for me. Mediterranean food is not usually what I go for, but I was pleasantly surprised during my first visit. I have gone back several times since, and have yet to be disappointed. The service is always amazing and the food may take a little extra time to get out, but is worth it. I have tried the trifecta of lamb on the menu including the lamb shank, lamb kabob, and lamb chops. Maybe I'll branch out a bit more next time I go, but why get something different if it is that good?!

A cute restaurant at the edge of CWE, Sultan offers a taste of the Mediterranean in the Midwest. We came in to check if they could accommodate my food allergies and the owner was immediately on top of it advising me what to stay away from. We ordered to-go and got a falafel wrap and subbed the hummus for garlic yogurt sauce. The falafel was well seasoned and maintained moisture. I liked the added flavors of the pickled veggies in the wrap. We also ordered a gyro which came deconstructed and was difficult to put all together. I'm not sure if this was because it was to-go or how it is normally served. The restaurant also has an area for hookah. I did not think it was smoky but it certainly smelled like hookah so if that is a problem for you, I'd recommend getting it to go. Overall, the food was fresh and pretty flavorful so I would go back.

Self proclaimed food snob regarding Mediterranean food having worked at a restaurant when I was young. This restaurant was a true gem and I'm so glad I found them. The restaurant is small and seems family owned. Not pretentious. Instead warm and inviting. Bonus points that it's in a gayborhood. Worth the uber from my downtown hotel. My only complaint about the space would be the sound travels with no background music so I tried not to listen to every conversation around me. Eventually they turned in music which helped. The food - the baba ganoush and hummus were amazing and a very healthy portion was provided. The pita is about a foot in diameter and is cooked fresh and delicious. I had the chicken and beef skewers. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Perfectly. Moist and flavorful. The beef had great flavor but the texture was a little off putting. It was also cooked well. The rice was great as well as the tabbouleh as the sid Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a delicious dinner off the downtown corridor and the bonus of a family run restaurant.

This is my second time trying Sultan Mediterranean after being underwhelmed from my first experience when I got the Munto dish. I'm glad I gave it another try for takeout recently since it changed my opinion to be more positive. I shared the Mixed Grill and Dolma dishes. The mixed grill was tasty, but I thought the rice outshined the meat, which seems like it should be reversed. I have never tried grape leaves, but I was happily surprised by the Dolma dish flavoring and was delighted to find all the veggies were all stuffed with the rice mixture. I'd say if you're in the grove, it's worth trying out and would be great place for a group to share and try different dishes to see which works for your taste.

My husband was craving some Mediterranean food and it was a nice day so we found this spot in the Grove to walk around after. It was awesome. Really cool aesthetic and the servers were so nice. We split the sampler with beef, lamb, and chicken and it was fantastic. All the meat was spiced well and tasted so good. Everything we had was top notch and so fresh. We will definitely be back when we have a craving!

A beautiful corner restaurant in The Grove. I loved the way the natural light entered the dining area. The staff were attentive and kind. During the lunch hour when you order an entree you are served a bowl of Lentil Soup. If you are dining after 3 pm order you a dish because it pairs well with their entrees. I enjoyed the Chicken Kabob plate. The rice and grilled tomato salad made this dish filling. The Munto dumplings were my favorite out of the few dishes we ordered. We ordered the chicken strips and fries for our toddler. This is something we get often so it was noticeable that it took him a few meals but he ate the serving in its entirety. I would recommend this location for dates, time out with friends, or for families.

Walked into the restaurant, and I was immediately hit with the intoxicating scent of cooked meats and a wonderful aroma of smoke. Overall, the staff was very kind and welcoming. Ordered the mixed girl and chicken biryani. The Mixed Grill is a delightful combination of flavors. The beef kabob, chicken kabob, and lamb kabob are well-seasoned and grilled to perfection. Each meat has its unique taste, but the beef kabob especially was the standout. If I could go back, I would definitely order more of the beef if I could. The accompanying rice is fluffy and complements the meat well. The salad is fresh and adds a refreshing element to the dish. In terms of the chicken biryani, the rice and meat were both fragrant with a good amount of delicious spices. It was overall well-seasoned and balanced. Overall, this place is delicious. Dishes were flavorful, and I can't wait to come back to try the other dishes. 4/5 stars.
